剧情介绍
A reworking of Humphrey Jennings’ seminal 36-minute 1943 docudrama The Silent Village, wherein coal miners from the Welsh village of Cwmgiedd collectively reenact the Nazi invasion and annihilation of the resisting Czech village of Lidice, a mining town itself. Focus in this short remake is on how sound is used as a mode of social control, and the larger historical implications of repetition. An homage to Jennings’ lucid address of labor, power, commemoration and industrialization.—Deborah Stratma
