Two sisters flee in the face of the communist advance in January of 1951. The younger sister kills herself after being raped by a North Korean soldier. The elder sister is saved from the communists, but her rescuer rapes her. This leads to a deep distrust of all men including her boyfriend who, once they are reuinited, wants to marry her
